Denys Ndangurura, MPH,RN

Denys Ndangurura holds a Master’s in Public Health from the Bugema University in Uganda, a Bachelor’s of Public Health and an Advanced Diploma in General Nursing both from the Université Ouverte in Goma, DRC. Mr. Ndangurura has more than 12 years working experience in Rwanda’s Public Health System both in public and INGOs sectors. Prior to joining UGHE, Mr. Ndangurura served as the Community Mobilization Coordinator for ICAP in Rwanda where he coordinated the community mobilization for countrywide survey on Rwanda Population HIV impact assessment (RPHIA), the first biomarker HIV survey in Rwanda. Before ICAP, Mr. Ndangurura was a Family Planning Technical Coordinator with a focus on Community Based Provision of Family Planning (CBP FP) within JPHIEGO, in Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) where he provided his expertise in planning, implementation, monitoring and country-wide scale-up of CBP-FP.

Mr. Ndangurura has also worked for Chemonics International/Rwanda Family Health Project (RPHP) as a District Coordinator implementing RMNCH and district health management through functioning of District Health Management Team (DHMT). Mr. Ndangurura began his professional experience in a clinical public health setting where he worked at the PIH-supported Rwinkwavu Hospital, first as a Nurse Clinician then Line Manager, prior to his promotion as Community Health Coordinator. In this role he played a key part with the planning and implementation of community health innovation, intervention, and scale-up countrywide. For program sustainability, he facilitated the formation of community health workers (CHWs) cooperatives for income generation, and supported community-based education for students from the University of Rwanda. Mr. Ndangurura has strong experience and interest in Community Based Education, Community Health, Community mobilization for behavior change, Reproductive Maternal and Child Health (RMNCH), Health System Strengthening, District Health Management and Public Health Research. Outside of the office, Mr. Ndangurura enjoys entertaining and socializing with family and friends.
