Jean d'Amour Kubwimana, MBA
Director of Finance
Jean d’Amour Kubwimana has over 11 years of professional experience in finance, administration, operations and business control in both profit and nonprofit organizations. He joined UGHE in 2017 after holding different senior leadership positions including Chief Finance Officer for Partners In Health (PIH) and Business Controller for Heineken Operating Company in Rwanda (BRALIRWA Ltd).
Mr. Kubwimana worked with PIH for over six years, starting as an Accountant before promotion to Finance & Administration Manager, Procurement Operations Manager, Director of Procurement and Logistics and finally Chief Finance Officer. During this tenure, Mr. Kubwimana supported PIH to set up and implement financial systems and controls; oversaw financial management of Butaro Hospital construction project and renovation of its affiliated health centers; oversaw tendering processes, development and management of international shipments tracking and customs clearance; and managed PIH’s budgeting, planning and auditing processes.
In light of balancing his career, Mr. Kubwimana transitioned to a Heineken Company in Rwanda “BRALIRWA Ltd” where he served as a Business Controller for nearly four years focusing on planning and control, business performance management, business partnering, capital expenditure management, and cost savings initiatives which improved the company’s profitability.
Mr. Kubwimana holds a master’s degree of Business Administration and is pursuing his ACCA (UK Accounting Qualification). He has completed various professional trainings and courses, including a DPMI certification from Monterey Institute of International studies, High Performing Team (HPT) training by McKinney Rogers, and Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) White & Yellow belts.
Mr. Kubwimana has knowledge and interest in global health concepts, is fluent in English and French, and holds IELTS and DELF/DALF diplomas.
