Luke Messac, PhD

Adjunct Faculty, Principles of Global Health Equity; Lecturer, Faculty of Global Health Delivery

Luke Messac received his BA from Harvard University and his PhD in History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Messac is also a fourth-year medical student at the University of Pennsylvania. His research focuses on the history of medicine and politics in Africa, the political uses of metrics in global health, and the history of health in development thought. His recent publications include articles in the Journal of Policy History, Social Science and Medicine and the Journal of Viral Hepatitis. Dr. Messac lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he enjoys spending time with his wife, visiting botanical gardens, and planning his next stays in Malawi and Rwanda.
