UGHE Partners with the Mastercard Foundation
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity
We are pleased to announce the launch of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE). This impactful initiative aims to provide educational opportunities to young Africans facing the highest social and economic barriers, including young women, refugees and displaced young people, and persons with disabilities. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE will offer 500 comprehensive scholarships to eligible Mastercard Foundation Scholars at the graduate level on Global Health Delivery and Health Professions Education over a 10-year period. This is to ensure that Mastercard Foundation Scholars are supported in their academic and personal development.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE provides financial support alongside additional services that foster personal growth, skill-building, and social mobility. Through a holistic approach that includes mentorship, leadership training, and community engagement, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UGHE is designed to equip Mastercard Foundation Scholars with the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective leaders in global health delivery and health management.
Furthermore, this initiative seeks to break the cycle of poverty, reduce gender disparities, and improve health outcomes across the continent, enhancing graduates’ employability and leadership potential. The partnership between UGHE and the Mastercard Foundation marks a significant step toward advancing inclusive and equitable development, and we are excited to be part of this transformative journey.
