Ursin Bayisenge, MD, MSc, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Dr. Ursin Bayisenge is a medical doctor and a skilled global health leader with extensive expertise in global health, neglected tropical diseases, One Health, research, academia, and the implementation of public health interventions at the national level. He holds a medical degree from the University of Rwanda, a Master of Science in Global Health Delivery from UGHE, and a PhD in Global Health with a focus on social sciences for severely stigmatized skin diseases from Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) in the UK.
He has spent the last nine years working on various public health initiatives with the Rwandan Ministry of Health, the Rwanda Biomedical Centre, and other national and international organizations that address global health issues. In addition to assisting with the academic program and project within the Centre for One Health, specifically the Kikundi community of practice, and developing short courses on One Health and pandemic preparedness and response, he has also supported the launch of the One Health integration in medicine at UGHE. Dr. Ursin is interested in integrating research, the One Health concept, social sciences, and anthropological methods to develop contextually sensitive solutions to global health inequities that affect vulnerable populations.
