Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health – GSRH

Gender, Sexual and Reproductive Health (GSRH) Option

Delivery Mode: Fully online (with no in-person convening in Rwanda)

Gender, sexual, and reproductive health (GSRH) is a cornerstone of global health and development, addressing critical issues such as maternal health, gender equality, family planning, and marginalized groups’ health. Despite progress, millions worldwide face barriers to comprehensive GSRH services, exacerbated by stigma, policy gaps, and systemic inequalities, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. Ensuring universal access to GSRH care is essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improving individual well-being, equity, and societal resilience.

The GSRH option prepares leaders to tackle these challenges through interdisciplinary training in program design, advocacy, research, and policy development. Participants will gain expertise in addressing barriers to care, promoting gender-responsive and culturally sensitive approaches, and advancing solutions that empower communities. This option aims to equip graduates with the skills needed to drive equitable and sustainable improvements in GSRH, enhancing the health and rights of underserved populations globally.

At the end of the program students will be able to:
  • Apply continuum gender transformative approaches in sexual and reproductive health projects.
  • Set specific goals to start working toward gender transformative sexual and reproductive health programming.
  • Critique gender and sexual and reproductive health policies and programs and develop policy and program recommendations to address key problems.
  • Advocate for gender analysis and mainstreaming and apply systems thinking to illustrate the importance of bringing together multiple disciplines relevant to gender and SRH.
  • Train/ mentor others in the field of gender and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Develop innovative strategies for promoting gender and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Demonstrate leadership to promote organizational development in gender and sexual and reproductive health.
