Emmanuel Kamanzi, MBA, PMP
Director of Infrastructure
Mr. Emmanuel Kamanzi is the Director of Infrastructure at the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE). He Managed UGHE’s 100,0000 Square feet inaugural Campus of Butaro and the 34 Hectare UGHE Butaro Campus Master Plan as well as its detailed design. He oversees the planning, development, and maintenance of all University Infrastructure. In this role, Kamanzi is responsible for four different Infrastructure department sub-divisions ranging from Facilities Maintenance, Construction Management, IT, and Campus Master planning. To deliver these services in support of the University Mission, Kamanzi works closely with over a dozen service contractors and the University’s senior leadership to guide the efforts of over 13 staff in the infrastructure department.
Kamanzi has been with UGHE since 2016. Prior to joining UGHE, he worked at Partners In Health for 7 years serving in multiple senior management Positions; District Project Director based in Rwanda and Country Program officer based in the United States. Kamanzi has contributed to Rwanda’s health system building through his work with Rwandan Government partners. He has notably managed several healthcare delivery projects and programs that included the construction and outfit of both the Butaro Hospital and the Butaro Ambulatory Cancer Center. He was also instrumental in the opening of Kirehe District Hospital and managed the Health Center Strengthening Project that capacitated and improved health care delivery at 21 health centers in two districts in Eastern Rwanda.
Mr. Kamanzi holds a master’s degree from the Business School of Netherlands and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Rwanda. He has also successfully completed global health delivery and management courses at Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Business School. He further holds the world’s leading project management certification; Project Management Professional (PMP®) offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
