Christopher Calahan, MD, MPH

Deputy Chair, Centre for Transformative Learning Technologies (CTLT)

Dr. Christopher Calahan is an Internal Medicine and Pediatrics trained physician passionate about health systems strengthening through medical education and simulation program development. He has been a key advisor to UGHE’s simulation program since its inception, and was appointed the Deputy Chair of UGHE’s Centre for Transformative Learning Technologies (CTLT) after its launch in 2024. Dr. Calahan also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Clinical Division at UGHE, and has taught across the Internal Medicine and Pediatrics clerkships, as well as Introduction to Practice of Medicine (IPM). In the US, Dr. Calahan works as a combined hospitalist at Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital, with his primary academic appointment as an Instructor at Harvard Medical School & Faculty Investigator in the Brigham and Women’s Division of Global Health Equity where he is committed to strengthening bilateral exchange between Harvard Medical School and UGHE through the Paul Farmer Collaborative.

Christopher earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency in the Global Health Equity Track at the Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Boston Children’s Hospital Combined Med-Peds Program. While in residency, he was Chief Resident of the Hiatt Residency in Global Health Equity and led his residency’s quality improvement efforts. He completed his MPH from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with a scholarly focus on assessing the cost-effectiveness and clinical impact of medical education and simulation investments at UGHE.
