Francine Mwitende

Research Assistant, INECD programme

Francine is a highly motivated young professional, with over three years of experience in clinical practice, research and M&E. Prior to joining UGHE, Francine worked as Research and impact evaluation associate at Vanguard Economics, a research and consulting firm based in Kigali.

At Vanguard Economics, Francine contributed significantly to Baseline assessment of current situation on youth employment in Rwanda to inform Mastercard Foundation and guide them during implementation of Young Africa Work project which is expected to create over 300,000 dignifying and fulfilling work opportunities for Rwandan youth.

Besides this, Francine has conducted several research on evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing as well as sexual and reproductive health.

Francine also worked as a registered nurse at University Teaching Hospital of Kigali (CHUK), where she improved the quality of care and patient outcome through integration of evidence into practice. During her practice in clinical settings, Francine identified many areas of improvement which sparked her interest to advance her career in clinical research to generate evidence for practice.

Francine has an educational background in Nursing and holds a bachelor’s degree from Makerere university.

Francine aspires to solve community health pressing issues through translation of research evidence into practice. Her research interest includes but not limited to nutrition, Gender, Sexual and Reproductive health equity and Evidence Based Practice in Nursing.
