Gabriel Makiriro joined the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) in March 2022, as a Lecturer and Medical Education Tracker in the School of Medicine, Clinical Sciences Division. In this role, He works and collaborates with senior full-time and visiting faculty in the development and delivery of the curriculum, prepares course materials, and contributes to in-class instruction in medical program courses. He supervises, examines, grades, and mentors students along their medical school journey. Dr. Gabriel holds a Medical degree from the University of Rwanda class of 2018.
Prior to joining UGHE as a medical educator, Dr. Gabriel worked in Rwandan primary health care, both rural and urban district hospitals for 3 years and 4months. During the stay, He was Involved in clinical care of patients, mentorship to health centers, and hospital quality improvement projects for better Healthcare services delivery.
In addition, Dr. Gabriel volunteered to Rwanda NCD Alliance, and Rwanda Diabetes Association involved in several health promotion projects, NCDs awareness, and screening. He is an NCD Child Young Leader, making advocacy for NCDs for children and young people. He has undertaken several training courses in research methods, implementation research, advocacy, and leadership. He has a huge interest in research driven advocacy, health education, and medical education.
