Dr. Daniel Seifu is a distinguished academic and healthcare professional with a profound commitment to education, research, and leadership in the fields of biochemistry and cancer research. With an illustrious career spanning over two decades, Dr. Seifu’s contributions have left a lasting impact on both academic institutions and healthcare facilities.

Dr. Daniel Seifu began his academic journey as an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at Addis Ababa University in 2001. He rapidly progressed through the academic ranks, serving as a Lecturer, Assistant Professor, and later, Associate Professor at the same institution. Driven by his passion for quality education, he assumed the role of Associate Professor at Edna Adan Medical University in Somaliland, where he imparted his knowledge and expertise to aspiring medical professionals.

In 2019, Dr. Seifu’s dedication to global health led him to the University of Global Health Equity, where he currently serves as Professor of Biochemistry in the School of Medicine’s Department of Biochemistry. His exceptional contributions have garnered recognition, culminating in his recent appointment as a Professor of Biochemistry.

Dr. Seifu’s leadership acumen is evident through his numerous administrative roles. He has held pivotal positions such as Core-Laboratory Manager, Head of the Department of Biochemistry at Addis Ababa University, Director for Laboratory Diagnostics and Imaging at Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital, and Dean of the School of Medicine at Addis Ababa University. Currently, he is the Dean of Research, Innovation, and Quality, as well as the Acting Director of the Institute for Global Health Equity and Research at the University of Global Health Equity.

Dr. Seifu’s commitment extends beyond his immediate roles. He actively contributes to various committees and professional societies. He has chaired the Institutional Review Board at the University of Global Health Equity, spearheaded research initiatives as the Research Lead, and played an essential role in curriculum development and academic commissions. His membership in esteemed societies such as the Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Association and the East African Society of Physiological Sciences reflects his dedication to professional growth and collaboration.

Dr. Seifu’s research prowess is evidenced by his involvement in numerous funded projects, which address critical healthcare challenges. He has explored topics ranging from breast cancer molecular characterization to clinical trials and the assessment of healthcare professionals’ experiences. Notably, he secured funding to investigate the perceptions and challenges faced by medical students during their transition to clinical training in Rwanda.
