Sylvia Callender-Carter is a Doctor of Public Health in Preventive Care. She earned her MPH at Loma Linda University with an emphasis in Health Education and Health Promotion. An experienced and creative problem solver, Dr. Callender has worked in diverse work environments. As a public health practitioner, her key experiences are in the following areas: needs assessment, program planning and implementing, and evaluation of public health programs. She has worked extensively in the area of environmental and occupational health. She served as the Director of the Master of Public Health program at Bugema University in Kampala, Uganda, where she more than doubled the graduation rate during her tenure. She joined Partners In Health in 2016 as the Curriculum Specialist in Rwanda.
Dr. Callender was born in the Caribbean island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and educated in the USA, where her permanent home is in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the mother of four and the proud grandmother of seven. She enjoys reading, spicy food, traveling, and golf and is passionate about netball.
