Addressing the mental health needs of children affected HIV in Rwanda: Validation of a Rapid Depression Screening Tool for Children 7-14 years old

This project designed and validated a rapid, easy-to-use, affordable depression screening tool – the Children Depression Screening Tool (CDST) – to overcome the challenges of overwhelmed mental healthcare providers and ensure the diagnoses and early treatment of depression in children living with HIV. The tool was validated in health facilities across the five provinces of Rwanda with the support of clinical psychologists and psychiatrists.
