UGHE is a fully accredited Global University in Rwanda. Graduates from the MGHD program are competitive candidates for future employers and educational opportunities.
Campus Location – All students will live in UGHE’s beautiful residential campus in Butaro. The campus is located approximately 2.5 hours from Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city, and 1.5 hours from Musanze, in the Northern Province.
Facilities include: an administrative complex, science lab, simulation center, library, fully equipped classrooms, recreation facilities, dining hall, housing units.
Objective of the Postgraduate Certificate Program
The overall objective of this program is to provide foundational knowledge and skills essential for educators to effectively teach, train, and mentor future health professionals. This program is designed to develop the basic educational capabilities of healthcare educators by providing them with a foundation in health professions education, instructional design, assessment methods, curriculum development, and equity in HPE. Graduates of this level are equipped with the necessary skills to undertake educational roles in their respective health professions.

Schedule for the Face-to-face Sessions and Online Learning
The schedule for the program follows a blend of in-person and virtual sessions over the course of the enrolment period. A total of three one-week in-person components are scheduled for the semester: the first at the start, the second in the middle, and the last at the end of the semester.
Exit requirements
The following are Exit requirements to complete the Postgraduate Certificate Program:
1. Successful completion of the 5 modules mentioned in the table above.
2. Submission of a reflective portfolio report.
3. Approval by the academic council.
Progression Pathway from Postgraduate Certificate to Diploma and MSc in Health Professions Education (HPE)
Upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in HPE, graduates are eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in HPE, enabling them to further enhance their knowledge and skills. Moreover, those who complete both the Certificate and Diploma programs can pursue a Master of Science (MSc) degree in HPE. This structured pathway provides a seamless transition for individuals and institutions seeking to achieve advanced expertise in the field of health professions education.
